Clear the Fog Intensive

Clear the Fog. Finally Understand What’s Been Running in the Background.

A private, immersive therapy intensive in Maine for women who are tired of managing symptoms — and are ready to work with what’s underneath them.

You’ve built a life that works. Things look okay on the outside.

You’re capable, and responsible, and self-aware.

And still — something doesn’t fully settle.

A heaviness you carry without a clear reason.
A low-level anxiety that comes and goes.
Moments where your reactions feel stronger than they should.

You pause and wonder:

  • Why does this keep happening?
Why do I still feel this way, even after everything I’ve done to move forward?

The heaviness, the lurking beneath is not new and you are sick of it.

And how it continues to impact your life.

It shows up in everyday moments…

  • Replaying conversations over and over, wondering if you said the wrong thing

  • Overthinking decisions that should feel straightforward

  • Struggling to trust your instincts

  • Feeling “too much” in some moments, and shut down in others

  • Feeling a drop in your stomach when someone pulls away, even slightly

  • A quiet but persistent sense of not quite being enough

What’s Underneath it

When certain experiences aren’t fully processed, they don’t disappear.

They stay active —
in the nervous system, in expectations, in how you interpret what’s happening around you.

You may not think of your earlier experiences as “traumatic” but certain negative experiences and especially our early environments inform the ways we have adapted to get by in the world.

They can come from:

  • Growing up in an environment that was chaotic; where you had to adapt quickly

  • Being criticized, overlooked, or emotionally unsupported.

  • Learning to be the responsible one, the easy one, the strong one

  • Experiences that shaped how safe it feels to be yourself

  • Having addiction, mental, or physical illness in your family when you were growing up

Over time, these become patterns. That can become automatic, certainly familiar and hard to shift.

And in times of transition and tumult, old memories, feelings, and behaviors can surface more strongly.

Why It Hasn’t Changed

There’s a reason insight hasn’t fully resolved this.

Because this isn’t just cognitive. You can’t think or rationalize your way out of it.

And, lord knows, you have tried.

It’s physiological.

Your system learned how to respond in order to get by —
and it’s still responding that way now, even when you know it doesn’t fit now

That’s why you can:

  • Understand something logically

  • And still feel something completely different.

The news cycle keeps our nervous systems on edge at best.

The chaos happening in the world, the daily tidal waves of evidence uncovering longstanding harm also can open up old personal traumas.

Why you haven’t gone deeper

Part of you already knows there’s more underneath.

And another part hesitates. You don’t want to look in the shadows.

Because going there might mean feeling:

  • Grief that never had space

  • Anger you learned to suppress

  • Shame that doesn’t fully make sense

So you’ve stayed functional. You’ve kept things together. Staying busy has felt safer.

That wasn’t avoidance in a careless way. It is not a personal failing. It was your system protecting you.

And it has protected you. But life is changing, and you want to change too.

, you just haven’t had the support. the opportunity and conditions to shift what is underneath.

These aren’t problems to fix.

They’re signals that something within you is ready for attention.

Why an Intensive?

This kind of deep work needs more than small windows of time as in weekly therapy.

An intensive creates the conditions for real movement:

  • Time to stay with something long enough to process it

  • Focus without interruption

  • Nervous system support so you don’t become overwhelmed

  • Guidance and attuned presence so you’re not doing this alone

Instead of working around the issue,
we work directly with it.

How the experience works…

1. Preparation

  • We begin with a consultation to understand where you are and what you’re looking for.

  • We meet virtually for a 90 minute Intake & Preparation Session to gather more background and develop a blueprint for your intensive experience.

  • You have the option to complete an Intensive Workbook —customized for you—prior to the Intensive.

2. Immersion

A private, multi-hour session using:

  • EMDR

  • Brainspotting

  • IFS/Parts Work

  • Somatic psychotherapy

  • Mindfulness

The work is paced carefully.
Breaks are built in.
Your system leads the depth

3. Integration

A follow-up session helps stabilize what shifts and translate it into daily life.

What begins to shift…

After this work, women often notice:

  • Less emotional reactivity in situations that used to trigger them

  • Clearer thinking and faster decision-making

  • A stronger sense of internal steadiness

  • Greater trust in their instincts

And in real life, that looks like:

  • Not replaying conversations long after they happen

  • Feeling grounded in situations that used to create anxiety

  • Saying what you mean without overthinking it afterward

  • Feeling more like yourself — consistently

  • Feelng more grounded and clear in their decisions

  • Less second-guessing and more self-trust

FAQs

  • A Therapy Intensive is an accelerated form of therapy designed to help clients go deeper and get results faster. Instead of attending therapy one hour per week for a year, why not carve out a weekend or a week for Therapy Intensives? It’s a cutting-edge approach to help people feel better faster. No need for a weekly therapy appointment.

In fact, many people think of Therapy Intensives like a retreat. For that weekend or week you can unplug, take time off work, get a babysitter, or even stay in a hotel. This time is completely dedicated to you so you can focus on healing, reflecting, and reconnecting.

  • Different intensives incorporate different therapeutic approaches. An EMDR/Brainspotting is a therapy intensive that centers Brainspotting and/or EMDR the primary modalities used. While I weave other approaches into my work with clients, I have found that using EMDR and Brainspotting to be powerful.

This is especially true when people wish to process past trauma or painful experiences. EMDR and Brainspotting can really accentuate and turbocharge a therapy intensive for their depth and they are able to tap into and leverage the healing capacity already inside of you.

I draw on my 20+ years of expertise to tailor the therapy intensive to you, your goals, and needs.

  • Therapy Intensives are perfect for people that are ready for relief now. If you’re ready to see things change in your life and your relationships but you don’t want to wait for that to happen next year - a Therapy Intensive may be right for you. We can focus on a topic, specific traumatic memories, or stressors that you want support with. The dedicated time will be customized specifically to you and your goals. So you can really give some intentional time, focus, in space to making real changes in your life.

  • Great question! This depends on your goals for the Therapy Intensive. Some goals can be reached in a 1 Day Intensive (3 hours), but other goals are more complex and may require a 3 Day Intensive.

We will discuss this your consultation and intake call. I can help you determine the number of days that would work best for your therapy goals.

  • Absolutely! Therapy Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy. I would ask that you sign a Release of Information so that your current therapist and I can collaborate/coordinate to best serve you.

  • Therapy Intensives are not covered by insurance. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse a portion of the Therapy Intensive. It’s best to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to learn the details about your specific plan. Make sure to ask questions like: Do I have a deductible for out-of-network services? Have I met my deductible? What CPT billing codes do you reimburse (i.e. 90837 or two 90843 in one day)? What is the rate of reimbursement for each billing code? What is the allowable amount for reimbursement?

Here is a helpful resource: The Complete Guide to Out-Of-Network Reimbursement.

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time you book your Therapy Intensive. The remaining 50% is due on the first day of the Intensive Session.

  • Let’s schedule a time to talk! I’m happy to answer any questions and explore your unique situation to see if a Therapy Intensive may be helpful for you.

During Brainspotting & EMDR Intensives we help you recover and connect with your gifts, strengths, and resilience so you can experience more contentment and clarity.
