Brainspotting & EMDR Intensives

A Private Therapy Intensive for Women Entering Life After Active Motherhood

In person in Atlanta, Georgia ~ Virtually in New York, Maine, Georgia, and Florida

You Did Everything You Were Supposed To Do. Why Doesn’t It Feel Like Enough?

A private, immersive therapy intensive in Maine for women ready to reconnect with themselves, gain clarity, and step into what’s next with confidence.

Your children are more independent now.
The pace has shifted — even if your life is still full.

And somewhere in the quiet moments, you notice it:

Something feels… off.

Not wrong.
Not broken.

Just slightly out of alignment.

You’ve spent years focused outward — caring, managing, supporting, showing up.

And now, with a little more space, you’re left with a question you didn’t expect:

What do I actually want now?

IF THIS FEELS FAMILIAR

You might notice:

  • You finally have more time — but aren’t sure how to use it meaningfully

  • You feel both relief and a quiet sense of loss

  • Your days feel less structured, and you feel slightly unanchored

  • You keep yourself busy, but it doesn’t feel fulfilling in the same way

  • You feel a low-level restlessness or dissatisfaction you can’t fully explain

And sometimes:

  • You second-guess decisions that should feel simple

  • You feel disconnected from your own preferences or desires

  • You question whether you’re “doing this phase of life right”

  • You feel a quiet pressure to figure out what’s next

THE PART NO ONE TALKS ABOUT

This transition isn’t just logistical.
It’s deeply personal.

For years, your role gave your life:

  • Structure

  • Meaning

  • Direction

  • A clear sense of being needed

Without that constant pull, something important becomes visible:

You haven’t had much space to focus on yourself.

Not because you did anything wrong —
but because life required your attention elsewhere.

WHAT STARTS TO SURFACE

When that space opens, even slightly, many women notice:

  • A desire for something more — but no clear direction

  • Questions about purpose, identity, and fulfillment

  • Thoughts about choices made along the way

  • A sense that parts of themselves have been set aside

You might find yourself wondering:

  • Did I prioritize the right things?

  • What do I want now — not ten years ago?

  • What would feel meaningful at this stage of my life?

SUBTLE REGRETS (THAT DON’T HAVE A PLACE TO GO)

These thoughts don’t always feel dramatic.
But they linger:

  • Parenting: I gave so much… but did I also lose parts of myself?

  • Relationships: Did I fully express myself… or keep things smooth?

  • Career: Did I follow what truly mattered to me — or what made sense at the time?

  • Yourself: What did I postpone… and is it too late to return to it?

These aren’t problems to fix.

They’re signals that something within you is ready for attention.

WHY IT FEELS HARD TO SHIFT ON YOUR OWN

Most women try to think their way through this phase.

  • Journaling

  • Talking with friends

  • Reading, reflecting, analyzing

And while that helps —
it often doesn’t create real clarity.

Because this isn’t just a mindset shift.

It’s a deeper recalibration of how you relate to yourself.

WHY AN INTENSIVE

An intensive creates something most women don’t have access to in daily life:

Focused, uninterrupted space to actually figure this out.

Instead of trying to piece things together in small moments, you step into:

  • Dedicated time for reflection and clarity

  • Guided exploration of what you want now

  • Support in reconnecting with your own voice and preferences

  • A structured process for defining your next chapter

This is not about digging into trauma.
It’s about coming back to yourself — clearly and intentionally.

HOW THE EXPERIENCE WORKS

1. Preparation

We begin with a consultation to understand where you are and what you’re looking for.

2. Intensive Experience

A private, multi-hour session designed to help you:

  • Clarify what matters most to you now

  • Identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck or uncertain

  • Reconnect with your internal sense of direction

  • Move from vague dissatisfaction to grounded clarity

Approaches may include:

  • Reflective and insight-based work

  • Somatic awareness (connecting mind + body)

  • Parts work (understanding internal conflicts)

  • Mindfulness-based tools

3. Integration

You leave with:

  • Clear insights

  • A stronger sense of direction

  • Practical next steps

  • A follow-up session to support implementation

WHAT BECOMES POSSIBLE

After this work, women often describe:

  • Feeling more grounded and clear in their decisions

  • Less second-guessing and more self-trust

  • A stronger connection to what they actually want

  • A renewed sense of purpose and direction

  • More energy and engagement with life

Not because everything changes overnight —
but because they are no longer disconnected from themselves.

Spacious. Calm. Unpressured.

A place to step out of your routine and hear yourself think again.

ABOUT YOUR GUIDE

You still…

You find yourself snapping or shutting down when your kid complains or makes a mess

You love your child deeply—but their needs can feel overwhelming, irritating, or like too much.

You spiral in fear about your kids' safety, their future even when you know they are likely okay

You shut down when you and your partner can’t agree on parenting. You begin to boilwhen you feel undermined by them.

You sometimes feel resentment, jealousy, or a quiet “must be nice” when your child gets what you didn’t

You worry you’re repeating patterns… even though you’re trying not to.

You wonder if something unresolved from your own childhood is still affecting you

None of it feels good.

This is not the parent you want to be.

Intergenerational gifts rather than burdens

What Can Change?

You can be truly present with, proud of, and enjoy your child. You are not reacting from someplace else.

You can show up with steadiness, without bracing or escaping. I can choose how I respond.

You can feel grounded when your child is a little late coming home. You don’t have to be hijacked by fear to care about their safety.

You’re able to feel grief for your own childhood without it interfering with your parenting

You and your partner are less reactive, more aligned, and able to stay on the same team

You can set clear, calm limits and trust yourself in how you show up for your child

Your child is no longer carrying the emotional weight of what happened to you.

You’re no longer carrying it alone, unconsciously, in every moment.

It’s never too late. For you or your child, even if they are an adult.

The Time and Space to Go Deeper

Intensives offer longer, extended sessions over a shorter period of time so you can stay with the process and build momentum. Intensive sessions are usually multiple hours of therapy in a single day up to several days, either in a row or separated by days or week. There isn’t the stop and start of weekly sessions so there is more focused time for deep processing. And more time and space for integration and progress.

Brain & Body Based Approaches

EMDR and Brainspotting are powerful therapeutic tools that help clients go deep. These approaches tap into the nervous system’s innate capacity to heal. They get to the root rather than just managing symptoms. They facilitate connection with the brain- body to access unresolved traumatic material and use the nervous system’s natural capabilities to process painful experiences in ways that the thinking mind alone cannot. I use these neuroscientically informed methods as well as other approaches you may have heard of including IFS/parts work, positive psychology, KAP, CBT, and mindfulness. I also hold space for integration of energy, soul, and spirituality if it fits.

Research supporting the effectiveness of intensives

  • Intensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. Learn more here and here.

  • Intensive EMDR treatment is feasible and is indicative of reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms in a very short time frame. Learn more here.

  • An intensive program using EMDR therapy is a potentially safe and effective treatment alternative for complex PTSD. Learn more here.

  • The economy is compelling: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session. FAQs

  • A Therapy Intensive is an accelerated form of therapy designed to help clients go deeper and get results faster. Instead of attending therapy one hour per week for a year, why not carve out a weekend or a week for Therapy Intensives? It’s a cutting-edge approach to help people feel better faster. No need for a weekly therapy appointment.

In fact, many people think of Therapy Intensives like a retreat. For that weekend or week you can unplug, take time off work, get a babysitter, or even stay in a hotel. This time is completely dedicated to you so you can focus on healing, reflecting, and reconnecting.

  • Different intensives incorporate different therapeutic approaches. An EMDR/Brainspotting is a therapy intensive that centers Brainspotting and/or EMDR the primary modalities used. While I weave other approaches into my work with clients, I have found that using EMDR and Brainspotting to be powerful.

This is especially true when people wish to process past trauma or painful experiences. EMDR and Brainspotting can really accentuate and turbocharge a therapy intensive for their depth and they are able to tap into and leverage the healing capacity already inside of you.

I draw on my 20+ years of expertise to tailor the therapy intensive to you, your goals, and needs.

We will discuss this your consultation and intake call. I can help you determine the number of days that would work best for your therapy goals.

  • Absolutely! Therapy Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy. I would ask that you sign a Release of Information so that your current therapist and I can collaborate/coordinate to best serve you.

  • Therapy Intensives are not covered by insurance. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse a portion of the Therapy Intensive. It’s best to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to learn the details about your specific plan. Make sure to ask questions like: Do I have a deductible for out-of-network services? Have I met my deductible? What CPT billing codes do you reimburse (i.e. 90837 or two 90843 in one day)? What is the rate of reimbursement for each billing code? What is the allowable amount for reimbursement?

Here is a helpful resource: The Complete Guide to Out-Of-Network Reimbursement.

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time you book your Therapy Intensive. The remaining 50% is due on the first day of the Intensive Session.
